hungry to the fruitless fig tree
he’d be teaching us
a lesson about
the power of his words

furious to the once-holy temple
upending the thieves’ tables
he’d be teaching us
a lesson about
the house of prayer

boldly to the mountainous city
with a heartful of faith

with a word, a prayer, a touch,
pointing us in the direction of
a hill we’d all have to face)
