Advent, Day 22: Love comes home…

Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 7:1-11, 16

I have been with you wherever you went… (v. 9)


wherever we went,
You were there

in cities
across deserts
over mountains
through seas

though we were travelers,
we were always home
because
You were there

with us
You moved
(packed Your suitcases,
cardboard boxes labelled
with Your Name)

among us,
You moved
(in hearts,
in minds,
in strength–
though we were
faint,
fickle,
and weak,
we knew

You were there)

and now
at Christmas,

      this earth,
          this house You built of clay and air,
          where You have planted us,
      awaits:

      God, be With Us.

Love, come Home.
