Today’s reading: Titus 2:11-14
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all.” (v. 11)
how precious
did Grace appear:
swaddled in the softest cloth
they could find,
discovering His fingers,
nestling in His mother’s arms
how precious the tiny fist
and how precious every head
His hands would one day bless,
heal, restore, lift up
how precious the ten toes
and how precious every step
His feet would one day take,
each wilderness,
each palm-strewn path
how precious the babytalk
and how precious every story
His lips would one day speak;
the scriptures He’d recite,
the sermons He’d preach
how precious
every new life,
and the sacrifice He’d become
every first breath,
and the sorrowed sighs He’d pray
every newborn cry,
and the tears He sheds, still, with us
the Grace of God has appeared
and we are made pure
new born
full of holy breath
crying out His good news
to a precious world
