a prayer for focus
today
(okay, this week–in fact,
this life–)
I need focus
the world won’t silence itself
to give me peace:
help me to find a quiet place
inside myself
the world won’t stop turning
(the kids still need fed, clothed,
loved, and
occasionally put in ‘time out’):
help me after every interruption
to reorient my thoughts
to the work of reflection
the world won’t let go
of all the little details
demanding my NOW attention:
help me to keep looking
for big pictures,
for connecting threads,
for your Truth beyond the
daily rituals, chores, and feelings
today
O Lord
let the world around me
be a comfort
and help me to
find focus
even here
