a prayer of thanksgiving

for restful sleep,
for mornings waking
with the window open,
for birdsong and
breeze

thank you, God

for music,
notes on a scale,
kid piano practice
(and pride in a new song mastered),
for my own fingers
back on the keys

thank you, God

for shelter,
home and clothing,
even more than we need, and
for opportunities to
share it

thank you, God

for a day to enjoy
your creation,
for flower and tree,
hummingbird
and elephant
