a prayer for this dark morning
6:13 a.m.
bring light into this day, O God,
as you always do
though I woke up tired
and frustrated,
bring your light also
into me
help me
to walk through these hours
(even these still-dark hours)
with grace:
with patience for the wake-up call,
with anticipation for what light may bring,
with peace despite my short fuse
forgive me for my anger,
my expectations that the people around me
should be different than they are
(change my heart, O God)
let me find ways to be well,
even when
I cannot have what I think
I need
remind me not to play the martyr
let the sunrise
teach me again
to walk in everyday’s
new life
